Information for Parents
Howell Public School's teachers, counselors, and administrators are committed to working with you and building on your efforts as your child grows. Together, we can supply the knowledge, tools, nurturing, and support your child needs to excel in school, and, ultimately, in college and the workplace.
Below is information that we hope will be helpful to you as your child navigates through their elementary years.
PowerSchool Parent Portal
The teachers of Howell Public Schools use PowerSchool as their grade book to track academic progress and attendance. Using the PowerSchool Parent Portal you are given access to this information pertaining to your child.
Curriculum
The elementary curriculum is based partly on recommendations from the State of Michigan's Department of Education (http://www.michigan.gov/mde).
Free and Reduced Meals
Our goal is that every child has the opportunity to eat a well-balanced meal. If your household income is within the reduced price limits on the Federal Income Chart shown on the attached application your child may qualify for a fee or reduced meal. The system is completely confidential, all children select and purchase their meal in the same manner. Please visit the Howell Public Schools Food Service Department to learn more about Free and Reduced Meals.
School Closings and Notifications
The district uses a parent notification system for notifying parents on a variety of subjects including school closings. The system will use personalized phone calls and emails to deliver important information concerning you and your student at the time and place that is most effective for you.
