Hutchings Herald 2/22/19

The Principal's Corner:

Dear Families,

We have a plethora of activities coming up that I wanted to bring to your attention.

Books - Books: - February 28th

We are doing our annual Pizza Kit fundraisers starting up on February 28th! In learning from last year we need to schedule more time for families to come and pick up the kits because we had so many orders so we have gotten more time for the pick up this year.

This year proceeds will go towards building up and bolstering up classroom libraries so that students can have access to high interest and updated material directly in their classrooms. Please take a look for those forms to come home around February 28th.

Kindergarten Registration: - March 5th

The first is our Kindergarten Registration which is on March 5th at Hutchings. If you know of any families who have students at the kindergarten age please send them our way! Our annual Kindergarten and Begindergarten Registration Event is set for Tuesday, March 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at our school. During the registration event, children and parents can take a tour of the school, meet the teachers and principals, and go for a school bus ride. For more information about the registration event to register your child online or to download a registration packet, please visit https://goo.gl/DqnReY.

Half Day - March 8th

Students have a half day on March 8th!

Book Fair - March 11th - 13th

Our Spring Book Fair will be running March 11th - 13th and will be open during Spring Conferences.

I always wanted to make families aware that I will be out of the building on February 26th and February 27th with the possibility of being out February 28th as my father is having a medical procedure done that will require me to be with him. I will have access to my e-mail and will respond back as I can throughout the days. Thank you for your understanding if my communications are a bit slower than normal.

All the best,

Mr. Moore

Great Start Livingston is excited to partner with MSU Extension to host a new parent workshop - "The Parent Talk System." This 6-week parenting class will begin on Tuesday, March 6 and explore the language we use with our children.  The goal is to improve communication and provide practical verbal strategies to use with our children. Celebrating Diversity and Ability

We are pleased to offer an informative and interactive experience for our second-grade students: Ability Awareness Day. This is a program of activities designed to heighten sensitivity and appreciation for people who are perceived as “different.” On Wednesday, March 13, 2019 our second-grade teachers and our school counselor, Mrs. Starkey, will help our students better understand how children with various disabilities (learning, physical, emotional) are just like other children through hands-on learning activities, an interactive puppet show, and a visit from Paws with a Cause!

To make this happen, we need volunteers! If you would be willing to volunteer at one of the hands-on learning stations, please reach out to your child’s 2nd-grade teacher as soon as possible.  We will need volunteers from approximately 8:45 a.m. (the classrooms will begin rotating through the centers at 9:15 a.m.) until around 11:15 a.m.

Feel free to contact Jennifer Starkey at [email protected]  for more information!
