Hutchings Herald 3-8-2019

The Principal's Corner:

Families,

Well, it looks like the weather may start to warm up here a bit as we get ready to Spring Forward with Daylight Savings Time! I wanted to thank everyone for their kind messages over the past couple of weeks as my father had his surgery and we are in the clear!

Pizza Kits:

Just a reminder that our pizza kit orders are due on March 18th with a scheduled pick up date of March 21st. Little Ceasers will be running the drop off in the cafeteria for families to come and pick up their orders. Please remember that we do not have refrigeration storage facilities to store the pizza kits so please make arrangements to have these kits picked up on March 21st.

Kiss and Go Lane:

Today we saw some students get out on the wrong side of the car and almost hit by a car as the children were waving goodbye. Thankfully the car was able to stop and not bump into the kids. Please remember that students need to get out of the car on the passenger side and that they should walk into the school from there. Also please make sure we are checking our surroundings so like today in case procedures are not followed we can still ensure safety for all students.

Carnival and PTO:

ThePTO is looking for some more volunteers to assist with Carnival and their Silent Auction. We have a parent who is running the online section of the silent auction but is looking for someone to help set up and run the auction that is happening during Carnival. If you are interested (or maybe not super interested but willing to help) with these events please the PTO know. I also wanted to thank the PTO for all the work and contributions they have done for the school in terms of, the field trips, assemblies, summer reading programs, celebrity server nights, book fair, kindergarten registration, conferences, classroom supplies, teacher appreciation week, and many more areas that they have helped out this year!

All The Best,

Mr. Moore

MacGregor's Message:

2019-2020 School Year Calendar

You can view the full calendar at https://goo.gl/TzJtDBPlease note, that the district and the HEA are still working on finalizing the open house and conference schedule. The district will provide updates regarding those items as they become available.

‘Champion for Children’ Award Nominations Sought

LACASA Center’s CAP (Child Abuse Prevention) Council and the Great Start Collaborative are asking Livingston County residents to consider who is a Champion for Children in the community. Nominees may be a person whose love of children is evident in the work they do, or in the way they spend their extra time. The winner could be someone who volunteers to mentor children, provides a safe foster care home, or advocates for vulnerable kids. Past recipients have been educators, coaches, public employees, foster parents, child care providers, and community volunteers. The CAP Council is accepting nominations for the 2019 Champion for Children award through March 18. To submit a nomination, please visit https://goo.gl/pxYryT.

Counselor Corner:

Health and wellness are both integral to success at school, and taking care of your child’s teeth is important to keep them healthy.  All elementary schools in Howell are proud to work with the Mobile Dentist program, where a dentist and dental hygienists visit the schools twice per year to offer dental check-ups and cleanings.  Here at Hutchings Elementary School, we are pleased to announce that we will once again have the Mobile Dentist visiting our school on April 4, 2019!  Please note that this visit will occur the week we return from spring break.  Your child should have brought home the Mobile Dentist permission slip a few weeks ago.  If you forgot to fill out the form, no worries! Another form will be coming home with your child soon.  If dental services are desired, please be sure to fill out that form and have your child return it to school as soon as possible.  If you need another permission slip, please let me know and I will send one home with your child.
